The Ashigaru Army of Katô Kiyomasa.
Katô Kiyomasa , a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyosi and a Tokugawa general was
a true warrior, nothing more, nothing less. He wrote to his followers later
in his life that poetry and dancing were shameful pastimes for a samurai,
and ordered anyone who found himself engaged in the latter to commit suicide.
His cruelty and love of combat (for sport, he hunted tigers with a spear in
Korea) earned him the nickname Kishokan, or, 'Devil General'.
The magnificent army of Katô Kiyomasa, ferocious fighters and ruthless veterans
of the Korean campaign (1592), have also arrived. These well-seasoned troops
will be more than a match for your existing Tokugawa & Mori forces! At Sekigahara
Kiyomasa took the Tokugawa side, against Toyotomi Hideyori, earning him on
victory a prize of an additional 540,000 koku and the title of Governor of
Higo. With this new found title and wealth he went on to design cities, was
involved in successful agricultural projects and he rebuilt Kumamoto castle,
which still stands today in reconstructed form, and is one of the most beautiful
in all Japan. He died suddenly on route to Kumamoto in 1611.
Depending
on which period of Japanese history you are recreating these troops can be
used to fight as allies or against our existing Tokugawa and Mori forces.
Also these troops were deployed in Korea and can be used to display that campaign.
To launch this new army we are offering discounts of between
10% and 33% on selected items for a limited
