54mm Connoisseur Style Figures from the Warring States Period of Japanese History

New Release - Fall 2001.
Katô Kiyomasa and Toyotomi Retainers

Katô Kiyomasa , a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyosi and a Tokugawa general, was a ferocious fighter and often ruthless. He was a true warrior, nothing more, nothing less. He wrote to his followers later in his life that poetry and dancing were shameful pastimes for a samurai, and ordered anyone who found himself engaged in the latter to commit suicide. His cruelty and love of combat (for sport, he hunted tigers with a spear in Korea) earned him the nickname Kishokan, or, 'Devil General'.

Katô is pictured belowon horseback with a samurai from the Toyotomi clan together with artillery manned by his own ashigaru. For details of these figures and our other autumn releases please contact us directly or one of our listed dealers.
